About Us

Viraja is where the science of the East meets the rhythm of the West

Our founders were born in India, moved to the United States over three decades ago, and now live in the UK. Their global journey has shaped a deep appreciation for both ancient wisdom and modern living.

At Viraja, we practice what we preach. Our mission is to integrate time-tested principles of Ayurveda, India’s natural and holistic medical science, into the rhythm of modern life. Rooted in balance, prevention, and self-awareness, Ayurveda has guided well-being for thousands of years. We’re here to help you integrate that wisdom into your everyday routine, wherever you are in the world.

Our Story

A consultant and a client came together in partnership to launch this service.

Vijaya's Story

Vijaya is a practicing Ayurveda Diet and Lifestyle Consultant and a Vedic astrologer based in London, UK. She holds a diploma in Ayurveda from the Ayurveda Pura Academy (UK) and a diploma in Vedic Astrology from the Dirah Academy in the UK.

A chronic ulcerative colitis patient,  Vijaya learned about Ayurveda holistic lifestyle methods in 2018 when she met an Ayurveda doctor. Before that, although allopathy medication helped her with managing colitis, her quality of life went down. This is due to repeated colitis flares and the side effects of the medication she was on. She suffered from blood loss, fear of viral infections, weight gain, hair loss, and fear of food. Ayurveda recommendations not only included a suitable diet that enabled her to maintain a balanced weight but also therapies such as oil massages that reduced excess heat and dryness in her body and reversed hair loss. The weeklong liver cleanse detox technique that the Ayurveda doctor suggested reduced the frequency of Vijaya’s colitis flares. In addition, specific techniques such as Tratak kriya, face massage, and rose water pad treatments improved her sleep cycles. All these recommendations along with a few specific yoga poses and the breathing techniques that Ayurveda practitioners included are helping Vijaya maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle despite her colitis.

This experience helped Vijaya to decide to switch her career from engineering to Ayurveda. She began practicing as an Ayurveda diet and lifestyle consultant after obtaining her diploma in Ayurveda. Since then, Vijaya has made it her life's mission to help others adopt a holistic lifestyle as a complement to modern medicine.

In the past, Vijaya worked as an engineer and project manager for multinational corporations (GE, Axiom, and Nuance owned by Microsoft) in the USA and India for 20 years. She obtained a B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from Osmania Engineering College in India, an MS in Computer Engineering from Rensselaer in the USA, and an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business. She has a US patent in Natural language processing.

Besides practicing as an Ayurveda consultant, Vijaya also works as a Vedic astrologer. She’s learning Indian classical music in her free time. She currently volunteers for the UK Government’s programs where she teaches English to immigrants and math to young kids.

Rabina's Story

Rabina is a dedicated Ayurvedic Diet and Lifestyle Consultant based in London, UK. Her journey into Ayurveda began after a challenging period following a severe panic attack in 2020 (after Covid infection), which left her debilitated for several months. When conventional medicine failed to provide relief, Rabina sought alternative holistic methods and discovered Ayurveda through online research. Around the same time, her friend and now colleague Vijaya Kurada, who had already earned an Ayurvedic diploma, helped her in her healing journey. Witnessing gradual yet steady improvements in her health, Rabina became convinced that it was not just a temporary solution but a life-long path to well-being! She then pursued Ayurvedic training, solidifying Ayurveda as her way of life!

She holds a Diploma in Ayurvedic Diet and Lifestyle Consultancy from Ayurveda Pura Academy in London, an award-winning institution renowned for its comprehensive ayurvedic education. Rabina also holds a bachelor's degree in Arts from India and BS degree in Behavioural Studies from Manhattanville college in NY.

In her practice, Rabina uses Ayurvedic principles to design personalized dietary and lifestyle recommendations, aiming to restore balance and promote holistic well being. She lives by the Ayurveda’s principle that True Health encompasses the harmony of mind, body and spirit.

Beyond her consultancy, Rabina is an artist with a passion for pottery (she has held several exhibitions of her ceramic pieces in London) and the creation of Yantras (sacred geometric designs for meditative practice). Rabina also immerses in the study of ‘The Bhagavad Gita’ for spiritual growth. She also enjoys Nature walks, Yoga and Zumba. Her commitment to community service is evident in her volunteer work, where she assists the elderly and physically challenged in her neighbourhood.
